e-Invoicing: FIRS appoints Remita, Telepac, others as service providers

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has approved 16 tech companies as service providers to assist taxpayers in onboarding to its e-invoicing platform. The development comes amid the commencement of the initiative on August 1.

The service providers, unveiled by the FIRS’ Acting Director of Tax automation, Mike Adoga, in Lagos, were accredited by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) as having the necessary infrastructure to manage the onboarding operations. The FIRS explained that more tech companies will join the list as soon as they get certified.

While all 16 tech companies are either certified as System Integrators or Access Point Providers, Adoga explained that the companies have met necessary conditions such as security, transparency, cross-sector performance and capacity to deliver nationwide service.

The companies include: Remita Payment Limited, Pascal Technology Limited, Hoptool Technology Limited, Etranzact International Plc, Telepac Africa Nigeria Limited, Cryptware System Limited, and Namiri Technology Nigeria Limited.

Others are Ace of Spedes Consult Nigeria Limited, Jureb Business Solutions Limited, Qucoon Limited, Courteville Business Solutions, Softrust Technologies Limited, Westmetro Limited, and Arca Payments Company Limited.

In addition, Adoga mentioned that taxpayers are at liberty to choose any tech company of their choice and can also switch if they aren’t satisfied with the assistance being offered by a service provider. Taxpayers are also to report any breaches or problems in dealing with the tech companies at will.

He emphasised that FIRS will be swift to delist any service provider found to have compromised the set regulations and standards.

“There will be more coming, and the list will continuously be updated. So, if at any point we find that any one of these service providers is in breach of any of the conditions of service, they will be removed,” he said.

The FIRS electronic invoicing solution, also known as the Merchant-Buyer Solution (MBS), aims to make tax compliance easier, faster and more transparent for all categories of taxpayers. While the FIRS commenced onboarding on August 1, large taxpayers, companies with annual turnover of N5 billion and more, are expected to onboard before November 1, 2025.

FIRS e-invoicing: Over 1,000 taxpayers already onboarded

Tailored as a significant transformation of digital tax administration, the FIRS’ e-invoicing is aimed at revolutionising tax payment in the country. The national e-invoicing solution is an electronic fiscal system (EFS) structured to provide real-time visibility into commercial transactions and ensure invoice authenticity, accuracy, and completeness.

Since it went live on August 1 2025, FIRS revealed that over 1,000 companies are already onboarded, representing 20% of the 5,000 eligible firms expected to be integrated on the platform. MTN Nigeria was the first taxpayer to transmit live electronic invoices to the FIRS, officially ushering in the e-invoicing regime, while IHS and Huawei followed suit this week.

At present, the onboarding process is being rolled out in phases, beginning with large taxpayers and with those in the medium and emerging groups to follow.

The FIRS e-Invoicing Implementation Team will continue to provide support through stakeholder engagements, including webinars, workshops, and town hall meetings, to ensure a seamless transition for all large taxpayers,” it said.

Adoga explained that despite the achievement, the FIRS recognised that onboarding would not be easy for many companies, which birthed the need to extend the deadline for onboarding by three months.

“We recognise that the onboarding journey is still ongoing. This is why the FIRS, in the spirit of encouraging voluntary compliance, has approved a three-month extension to the onboarding and transmission deadline, now set for 1 November 2025. This extension is not an opportunity and a call for you to delay,” he said.
