Dubai Taxi Company will acquire National Taxi in a AED1.45 billion deal aimed at expanding UAE transport operations and market share.

DUBAI: Dubai Taxi Company has announced a major acquisition deal to purchase National Taxi for AED1.45 billion, strengthening its position as one of the UAE’s largest mobility operators. The agreement is expected to significantly expand the company’s reach across Dubai and Abu Dhabi while reinforcing long-term growth plans.

Under the transaction, Dubai Taxi Company will acquire 100 per cent of National Taxi through funding secured from new bank debt facilities. The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to complete during the third quarter of 2026.

Officials said the acquisition will increase Dubai Taxi Company’s market share in Dubai from 47 per cent to around 59 per cent. The company will also establish a stronger presence in Abu Dhabi with an estimated 12 per cent market share, opening new opportunities for future expansion.

Commenting on the agreement, DTC Group Chairman Abdul Muhsen Ibrahim Kalbat said the acquisition represents a major strategic milestone for the business. He added that National Taxi has developed a strong operational and financial profile over the years, making it a strong fit for the company’s wider mobility platform.

Dubai Taxi Company also expects the transaction to support earnings growth from the first full year of ownership. The company highlighted future benefits from procurement efficiencies, centralised maintenance systems and integrated operational planning.

National Taxi has operated in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for more than 26 years and has become one of the region’s recognised transport operators. Managing Director Toufic Mitri said the company attracted investor interest from several international markets before Dubai Taxi Company submitted the most compelling proposal.

Dubai Taxi Company confirmed that the transaction will not involve any new equity issuance and said it remains committed to maintaining a healthy balance sheet and shareholder dividend profile.
