Dubai Authorities Arrest Three Foreign Nationals After Sharing Photos of Drone Strike to their loved ones

Authorities in Dubai have reportedly arrested three foreign nationals after they shared images of an explosion that occurred during a drone strike in the UAE.

Reports indicate that the foreigners were inside their apartment at Dubai Creek Harbour when a drone struck the building on Wednesday evening.

Following the incident, the individuals reportedly took photos of the aftermath and privately sent them to their family members to reassure them that they were safe.

However, according to the campaign group Detained in Dubai, the individuals were later arrested after authorities requested access to their phones.

Reacting to the development, the group’s CEO, Radha Stirling, spoke about the situation on X.

She wrote:
“Three traumatised survivors of an Iran drone strike were arrested after privately sharing a photo with loved ones confirming they were alive following an explosion on their apartment floor. Instead of receiving victim support, they were locked up by Dubai police.”

Stirling further stated that authorities should show compassion toward individuals who react instinctively during frightening incidents. She warned that such actions could result in victims being punished rather than those acting with harmful intentions.

The reported arrests come amid growing tensions in the region, with authorities attempting to reassure residents about security measures. Officials have reportedly told the public that the loud explosions heard in the sky are the result of air defence systems intercepting threats.

The situation also follows another incident earlier in the week when an Iranian drone reportedly struck a fuel tank near Dubai International Airport, triggering a large fire.

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have reportedly arrested up to 100 people for filming drone and missile strikes during the ongoing regional tensions.
