D’Tigress set for Indiana Fever test ahead of 2026 World Cup

Nigeria’s Nigeria women’s national basketball team will take on WNBA side Indiana Fever in an international exhibition game scheduled for Saturday, 2 May 2026.

The fixture forms part of the team’s build-up to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026, as they intensify preparations for the global competition.

According to the Nigeria Basketball Federation, the high-profile clash is designed to boost the team’s competitiveness on the international stage while offering players valuable exposure against elite opposition.

Chairman of the NBBF Sponsorship and Marketing Committee, Ugo Udezue, described the encounter as a major step forward for Nigerian basketball.

He added that the game extends beyond competition, serving as a strategic move to enhance Nigeria’s standing in global women’s basketball.

“This is more than just a game, it is a statement of intent. D’Tigress have built a legacy of excellence over the past seven years, and matchups like this against top WNBA teams continue to position Nigeria as a true global force,” Udezue said.

D’Tigress are also scheduled to face Los Angeles Sparks in another exhibition game at the Viejas Arena on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
