Drew McIntyre fooled fans during SmackDown dark match against Jey Uso

WWE.com The former World Champ had fun with the Sacramento crowd, but in the end, they got the last laugh. Drew McIntyre continues to be sports entertainment’s greatest menace. But instead of tormenting CM Punk as he has for much of the year, pro wrestling’s toughest troll turned his trickery on fans in Sacramento at the Golden 1 Center. After SmackDown went off the air, McIntyre faced Jey Uso in a dark match exclusively for the crowd in Sactown. During the bout, Uso came charging in for a clothesline, but McIntyre, wrestling in his kilt, ducked and caught him with a neckbreaker. As the celebrated prankster attempted a kip-up, he landed awkwardly before falling back on his Scottish rump. The former World Champ had fun with the Sacramento crowd, but in the end, they got the last laugh.

Fans immediately let out several oohs while jeering and laughing at McIntyre, who began clutching his left knee. The snickers soon ceased as one onlooker was heard speculating about McIntyre’s status for WWE’s next premium live event, Bad Blood. However, some were hip to McIntyre’s game.

As he continued to clutch his knee, Jessika Carr repeatedly checked on McIntyre while keeping Uso away. But when the Yeet Man got close enough, McIntyre struck with a thumb to the eyes. McIntyre then removed his kilt, drawing cheers from the crowd before turning them back into boos as he mimicked one of CM Punk’s signature poses.

After drilling Uso with Punk’s finisher, the GTS, he taunted the fans some more. Rather than go for the pin, McIntyre rolled onto his back and performed a perfectly executed kip-up. But his audacity would lead to his downfall.

As he turned his focus back to Uso, McIntyre went for a Claymore Kick. Instead, he was met with a superkick to the face, followed by a spear that sealed the victory for “Main Event” Jey. The closing sequence was as satisfying as it gets: the bad guy fools the fans, taunts them, and ultimately pays the price for his arrogance.

Hopefully, McIntyre’s hubris finally taught him a lesson before he enters the demonic Hell in a Cell against Punk on Oct. 5 at Bad Blood. Otherwise, such tomfoolery could cost him dearly.
