The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has called on institutions to stop rejecting members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to them for their primary assignment.

Bello gave the advice in a message at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Orientation Course at the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, Asaya.

The governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mrs Baje Janet, appealed to the corps members’ employers not to reject corps members posted to their various offices in the state but to receive them warmly and to also treat them like their staff to enable them to put in their best.

He explained that the state has a tradition of rewarding excellent performance at the end of the service years of the exercise and encouraged the corps members to develop the skills acquired during the orientation course by following up for excellent rewards after their service year.

Bello also advised them to be security-conscious at all times and to remember that security is the responsibility of both the government and the citizens.

“Avoid keeping late nights and also steer clear of local politics in your host communities,” Bello stressed.

He appreciated the management of the NYSC scheme in Kogi State and other collaborating agencies for doing a good job towards the success of the orientation exercise and wished the corps members success in their future endeavours.

Speaking earlier, the Kogi State Coordinator of the NYSC, Pastor Williams Adebimpe, charged the corps members to be guided by the rules and regulations of the camp by being responsible in their various duty posts.

She thanked Gov Bello and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for making the event successful.
