Disappointing Outcome for Burna Boy at 2024 NAACP Image Awards

At the 2024 NAACP Image Awards, Burna Boy, the Nigerian singer, faced another setback in his award ceremony journey as he fell short in six categories.

Usher triumphed over him in the Outstanding Male Artist of the Year category, while his track ‘City Boys’ couldn’t clinch the award for Outstanding International Song, which went to Tems’ ‘Me & U.’

The song ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ by Burna Boy featuring 21 Savage lost to Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Cobra’ in the Outstanding Hip-hop/Rap Song category. Additionally, ‘Sensational’ by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay outperformed Burna Boy’s track in the Best Duo/Group Collaboration (Contemporary) category.

Burna Boy’s album, ‘I Told Them…,’ faced defeat at the hands of ‘Jaguar II’ by Victoria Monét in the Outstanding Album of the Year category.

Previously, Burna Boy had faced disappointment by missing out on seven nominations at the 2023 BET Hip-hop Awards, four nominations at the 2024 Grammys, and a nomination at the 2024 Brit Awards.

Meanwhile, ‘Sensational’ by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, which had already secured the Best Duo/Group Collaboration (Contemporary) award on the first night of the 55th Image Awards, continued its success streak by winning the Outstanding Visual Album/Song award on the second night.
