Deputy governor aide

Personal Assistant to Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe of Nasarawa State, Eshi Auta, has escaped an attempted abduction.

It was gathered that gunmen attacked Auta on Wednesday night while he was heading home from work in the Tudun Kauri area of Lafia.

The deputy governor’s aide sustained external injuries as a result of the assault, prompting his immediate admission at the state-owned Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) for treatment.

According to Daily Post, the victim’s injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, and after receiving medical attention, he was discharged from the hospital.

Auta reportedly disclosed that during the attempted abduction, he lost his personal belongings, including his phone.

CorrectNG recalls that a 27-year-old Nigerien national, Sulaiman Abdullahi, has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing a 30-year-old man, Yahya Badamasi in Kano state.

A High Court sitting in Kano convicted Abdullahi on Wednesday, October 11 for the crime which was committed on April 9 2017.

The court found the convict guilty of culpable homicide, which is contrary to Section 221 (b) of the Penal Code Laws of Kano State 1991, and subsequently sentenced him to death by hanging.

Six years ago, Abdullahi, a native of Matamaye village in Niger Republic reportedly had a misunderstanding over N700 with the deceased who was a resident of Kofar Nassarawa Quarters in Kano.

The disagreement resulted in a physical fight, which came to an end when the convict brought out a pair of scissors and stabbed the deceased in the neck.

An injured Yahaya Badamasi was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital but later died while receiving treatment. Police officers from the Kwalli Division subsequently arrested and charged Abdullahi in court.
