Democracy Day: Tinubu Vows Nigeria Will Stand Firm Against Terror, Banditry

The Federal Government has reiterated its resolve to address insecurity and reduce economic hardship in the country, insisting that Nigeria will not succumb to terror or criminal intimidation.

President Bola Tinubu’s position was delivered on Sunday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during the National Inter-Denominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, as part of events marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

In a statement posted on X, Akume, who represented the President, said the administration is fully aware of the economic struggles faced by Nigerians and is actively working to ease the burden through the delivery of what he described as democratic dividends.

He stressed that the government is not insensitive to the plight of citizens.

“Government is sensitive to all these pains, shares in these pains and has heard your cries,” he said, assuring that President Tinubu would step up efforts to tackle socio-economic challenges across the country.

On security matters, the SGF stated that the Federal Government remains committed to safeguarding lives and ensuring the release of those in captivity, adding that security agencies are being strengthened to confront threats nationwide.

He maintained that despite prevailing difficulties, the government will not yield to criminal groups or allow insecurity to undermine national stability.
