Day 39: Together As One Voice

Bible reading for 40.Day 2026 | Romans 15:5-6

Let every tribe, every tongue
Lift their voices as one
Singing, “worthy is the Lamb”
We will go in Your name
For Your glory and fame
Singing, “worthy is the Lamb”

When I was younger, a famous self-help guru taught that one should begin with the end in mind.

The Bible encourages us to push that thought even further: To live all of life with the end in mind.

So, what’s the end? How does God envision the end?

One of the most frequent Biblical pictures of the end is the worship of God by all His people together. Yes, that includes people of all social and economic backgrounds, education levels, ages and abilities. 

But very importantly, it includes people of all nations: Jews and Gentiles, which are the nations, the peoples of the world, together in the worship of God.

Imagine the people of God living all of life with this end in mind.

In Romans 15:5-6, the Apostle Paul exhorts us to live in harmony with one another, with endurance and encouragement.

Why? So that together, we may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Just a few verses down, we learn of God’s great desire and hope that the nations will glorify God for His mercy, rejoice in Him, put their hope in Jesus, and praise the Lord and extol Him together. (Romans 15:9,12)

It’s so clear what we are called to be: A church of many nations, peoples, tribes and languages, living in harmony. Together with one voice glorifying our God.

Because that is what it will be at the end, when together we will join a great multitude from all nations, and fall down in worship before the throne of God and before the Lamb, declaring that “salvation belongs to our God.” (Revelation 7:9-10)

Friends, God has given us His vision of Heaven.

Shouldn’t we desire to see this happen on Earth?

This is such a beautiful and compelling vision for the Church to live by today.

Imagine the Singapore Church in harmony across all races, peoples and languages. And that must surely include the migrants, the foreigners in our midst.

Would you make that your desire, even for your local church, to be an expression of such Gospel unity? Imagine every local church in Singapore sharing that vision of the end.

And as you meditate on that vision in your mind, you may notice that there are still other peoples and tribes and languages that are not yet well represented in the global Church.

There are many who have not yet had the chance to hear about the Good News of Jesus. Places where the name of Jesus is not yet known.

Would you make it the desire of your heart to help see God’s vision of the end come to reality? Knowing that this is the desire of God’s heart, and He has commissioned us to help make it a reality.

Would you then ask the Lord: “Lord, what would You have me do… So that the nations will come to You?”

So that we may draw ever nearer to the day when all of God’s people, from every nation, will together with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

Would you join me in prayer?

Father, we ask, let Your Kingdom come, let Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. That the nations will come to confess that Christ is Lord.

Amen.

Reflect:

1. Will we live each day with the end in mind – where every people, nation, race and tongue join together in worship of God?

2. Will our churches become an expression of Gospel unity, worshiping alongside those of different nationalities and races?

3. Will we commit to seeing God’s vision of the end come to reality?

Pray:

1. That we will set aside our differences and prejudices so that we can worship God together as the Body of Christ.

2. That we will move towards unity in the Church, living with God’s end in mind.

3. That we will reach out to those who do not yet know Jesus, wherever He has placed us.
