  • Daihatsu introduced the Rocky Crossfield concept at the GIIAS 2024.
  • Modifications include unpainted bumpers, a roof rack, and all-terrain tires.
  • The concept highlights the tuning potential of the urban SUV.

The Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize twins have been around since 2019, but that didn’t stop the automaker from using it as a base for a new and interesting concept. The Daihatsu Rocky Crossfield debuted at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, with several off-road modifications highlighting the tuning potential of the subcompact SUV.

The concept follows the same recipe as the Toyota RAV4 Adventure Off-Road Package II, including the unpainted plastic bumpers. These are combined with a cool grille cover, black wheel arch moldings, and matching “Rocky Crossfield” decals on the profile.

While the Rocky is available with LED headlights, Daihatsu chose the halogen units for the Crossfield concept, giving it a more purposeful look in combination with the yellow fog lights. The SUV rides black 16-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires by Dunlop, although a set of steelies would look even cooler.

The Rocky Crossfield is finished in the handsome Sand Beige Metallic, inspired by beach activities. The same can be said about the aftermarket roof rack that can carry surfboards, a tent, a retractable awning, and an LED bar. Inside, we find a 9-inch infotainment system and Dark Grey Metallic accents.

Under the hood lies the stock naturally-aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine producing a humble 85 hp (65 kW / 86 PS) and 105 Nm (77 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to the front axle via a CVT gearbox. Interestingly, Daihatsu didn’t choose the more potent turbocharged 1.0-liter engine, which would be a more fitting option for a rugged-looking concept.

This is the second time we see a Crossfield version of the Daihatsu Rocky, following the original concept from the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon. The 2022 concept featured a hybrid powertrain, body-colored bumpers, LED headlights, mudflaps, Toyo all-terrain tires, a suspension lift kit, and an aftermarket roof rack.
