Crocodile Attacks And Kills Plantation Worker In Indonesia

A 44-year-old woman was killed by a crocodile while working on a palm oil plantation in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, when the animal dragged her into a ditch after biting her hand.

-Her colleague attempted to rescue her but was unable to prevent the attack and alerted local authorities. After a 90-minute search, the woman’s body was found still in the crocodile’s grip, and the animal released her when rescuers approached.

-Borneo, shared by Brunei, Malaysia, and Indonesia, is known for its vast jungles and rare wildlife, but palm oil plantations and logging have been criticized for infringing on its rainforests.

-In August, a crocodile killed a 54-year-old woman while she bathed in a river on Indonesia’s Maluku islands.
In 2018, a mob in Papua, Indonesia, killed nearly 300 crocodiles in retaliation after a local man was attacked by one of the reptiles.
