Court reduces Nana Agradaa’s 15-year sentence to 1 year

A ruling by the Amasaman High Court has brought a major reduction in the prison term of controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa.

In a decision delivered on Thursday, February 5, 2026, the court upheld her conviction but revised her sentence from 15 years with hard labour to 12 calendar months.

The presiding judge explained that although the offence warranted punishment, the original sentence imposed by the trial court was disproportionate to the circumstances of the case. The court emphasised that fairness and proportionality must guide sentencing decisions, prompting the significant reduction.

The revised sentence takes effect from July 3, 2025, the date of her conviction, meaning Nana Agradaa will serve a total of one year in prison. The former fetish priestess turned self-styled evangelist was initially sentenced amid widespread public debate and legal scrutiny. While her conviction remains intact, the appellate ruling has substantially shortened her time behind bars.

Agradaa was convicted after the court found that she used a televised platform in 2022 to make deceptive claims about multiplying money, leading members of the public to part with cash under false assurances.
