CMLL Roundup: Mercedes Moné & India Sioux win double main event at all women show

CMLL honored the luchadoras with an all women show from Arena Mexico on Friday night (Oct. 17, 2025). Mercedes Moné and India Sioux were winners of the double main event. Let’s break down the results.

Mercedes Moné returned to Arena Mexico to defend the CMLL Women’s World Championship against Persephone. Mercedes brought in Aubrey Edwards as special referee. Edwards called a fair match and caught Mercedes with her feet on the ropes cheating on a pin. The CEO shoved Edwards, who shoved back. This was not the arrangement Mercedes thought she was getting with a handpicked ref. Mercedes continued heeling it up by throwing water on Persephone’s family.

The match was rocking. Persephone controlled the pace with power offense. She came close to victory on a spear, but Mercedes had a tight kick-out. When Persephone executed the Razor’s Edge finisher, Mercedes was able to roll outside to avoid the pinfall. After a dramatic escape from the Statement Maker submission, Persephone landed a moonsault. Mercedes kicked out, so Persephone went back up top for a frog splash. That was her downfall. Mercedes rolled away, and Persephone splat on the mat. Mercedes pounced for a backstabber and the Statement Maker to win. Mercedes retained the gold.

Afterward, Mercedes called out to the locker room for her next challenger. Olympia answered the call. Mercedes accepted the future match, but it will be on her turf in the USA rather than in Mexico.

Enjoy the highlight package for Mercedes versus Persephone.

India Sioux defeated Skadi to win the CMLL Women’s Universal Championship annual tournament. Sioux had trouble dealing with Skadi’s size, but she turned the tide in the end for an avalanche hurricanrana. Sioux kept the pressure on for a running senton and a leg drop, then she folded Skadi into a pretzel for submission victory.

La Catalina, Lluvia, & La Jarochita defeated Zeuxis, Reyna Isis, & Olympia. The third fall had the funniest pin of the night. The arms of partners Isis and Olympia got hooked together for a double roll-up to trap each other, then Lluvia and Jarochita sat on top of the pile hugging to prevent escape from their opponents.

International talent was in the house as Hazuki (Stardom), Koguma (Stardom), & Kanji (RevPro) defeated Marcela, Princesa Sugehit, & La Magnifica. Hazuki earned the pin on Marcela from a flying senton. The winners were in town warming up for the Women’s Grand Prix tournament scheduled for October 24 in Arena Mexico.

Sanely defeated Kira in a lighting match (ten-minute time limit). The finishing maneuver was interesting. Sanely went for a modified giant swing, then she dropped down to the mat for a submission. This move has potential to be awesome. Sanely didn’t get enough swing rotations for the wow factor, but the idea to transition into a submission is cool. I don’t know why the finish was pinfall instead of tap out.

In the opener, Candela & Valkyria defeated Tabata & Nexy.
