CM Punk gets to defend the world heavyweight title in Chicago

WWE is promoting Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns challenging CM Punk for the world heavyweight championship at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas “one of the greatest main events in WrestleMania history.” They’re also making a story of Punk putting that in jeopardy by defending his title in his hometown of Chicago at Elimination Chamber on Feb. 28 at the United Center.

On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Cleveland, Finn Balor made clear he’s not done with Punk just yet and he wants another crack at the crown. Fair play, Punk beat him in his hometown, so he wants the chance to return the favor.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce was hesitant to book the match at first but Punk was insistent on giving the people what they want while being a fighting champion en route to one of the biggest matches WWE could possibly make right now. Sure enough, we’re getting it:

It’s going to be one hell of a night for Chicago later this month, what with both Punk and AJ Lee on the card.
