Chukwueze close to first EPL start for us – Fulham coach

Fulham manager Marco Silva has revealed that Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze is edging closer to making his first Premier League start for the club.

Chukwueze joined the London side from Serie A giants AC Milan on a season-long loan last summer but is yet to feature in the starting lineup.

The 26-year-old made his return from a brief injury layoff in Fulham’s recent clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he impressed after coming off the bench and was unlucky to see his effort come off the woodwork after dribbling past three defenders.

Speaking on the winger’s progress, Silva said Chukwueze is nearing the right moment to start and praised his ability to influence games.

“The moment [to start] will arrive for [Samuel] Chukwueze too. We’re feeling he can have an impact for us,” Silva told BBC UK.

“It was the moment for Kevin [to start on the left], to play [Alex] Iwobi more inside. Chukwueze can do it there, too.”

“The biggest challenge and answer he can give is not one v one, but finishing. The way he plays, the way he is brave, fans like to see.”

Chukwueze will hope to get his first league start when Fulham take on their next Premier League opponents this weekend.
