A new version of Lamborghini’s iconic Miura will not be built, Lamborghini’s design chief said in a recent interview with Auto Express.

The Italian supercar design chief, Mittya Borkert, was asked if a new Miura was on the cards, and he said, “The demand would be there, but we’re not going to do it. Lamborghini is a brand where the mirrors are small, but the windshield is big. We’re not looking back; we’re looking to the future. And I think it has to be this way.”

In response to the sad Miura news, Auto Express mentioned the 2006 Miura concept, suggesting that this is not a new idea, plus a more recent reboot of the Countach. Mitya replied, “The Countach… It was a futuristic interpretation. I thought it was interesting to do a translation into the year ’21 or ’22. The last Countach was from 1990, and I wanted to imagine the new Countach as a continuation.”

However, this does not mean that the design heritage of previous Lamborghini models will be lost. On the contrary, it will continue to play an important role in the elements of the company’s new models.
