CAF backs Infantino for 2027–2031 FIFA presidency with unanimous vote

The Confederation of African Football has unanimously endorsed Gianni Infantino for re-election as president of FIFA for the 2027–2031 term.

The decision, reached in Vancouver, Canada, delivers 54 votes from African member associations, giving Infantino a significant early boost in the race.

The unified backing from CAF, FIFA’s largest voting bloc, reinforces Infantino’s strong position as he seeks another term, having first assumed office in 2016.

In an official statement, CAF confirmed that all its member associations were aligned.

“The CAF Member Associations unanimously agreed to support Gianni Infantino to be re-elected as President of FIFA for the period 2027–2031.”

The presidential election is expected to take place in Morocco, with Infantino potentially remaining in office until 2031, following a ruling that excludes his initial term from the 12-year limit.c
