A Devastating Report

The Pastor’s Firing

Dr. Joel Tudman, the former assistant pastor to T.D. Jakes and the presumed new senior pastor of The Faith Center Church in Sunrise, Florida, was reportedly fired by Pastor Henry Fernandez, whom he was going to replace.

Dr. Joel Tudman, who has been blessed with a large and beautiful family, shared these words just hours ago: “PRAY FOR US. OUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN AND DEVASTATED.” This statement followed reports that the former assistant pastor to T.D. Jakes “was fired” by Pastor Henry Fernandez from The Faith Center Church, where he had been hired to take over as senior pastor.

Daniel Whyte III, President of Gospel Light Society International, has three short comments regarding this “evangelical-charismatic-Judas-Jezebel-Laodicean church chaos and confusion.” For God said, “Let everything be done decently and in order”:

  1. How is it that a man as seemingly accomplished, humble, and loyal to T.D. Jakes as Dr. Joel Tudman—who has raised a family of nine children with, we assume, his one and only wife—gets passed over by T.D. Jakes and the Potter’s House church for his divorced and remarried daughter, Sarah Roberts, and his divorced and remarried son-in-law, Touré Roberts? Whyte says he does not know Tudman’s full background, but if it is a clean Christian background and he has no scandals such as molesting or raping children, committing adultery, or being accused in court of sodomizing other preachers, what a wonderful contrast and fresh start it would have been for the Potter’s House church. It could have taken the church to “higher heights and deeper depths for the glory of God,” and put away the “satanically-driven, ungodly, alleged sodomy/homosexuality divorced and remarried soaked legacy” of T.D. Jakes and his family.
  2. There is a little-known trick that business owners use to get rid of people that most are not aware of: one boss or business will cordially let somebody go after already arranging with another boss of another business for them to hire the person, only to fire them for some bogus reason six months later. This is done because the first boss did not want to be responsible for the firing for various reasons. Whyte hopes these two pastors did not treat Dr. Joel Tudman in this manner.
  3. If Dr. Joel Tudman is serious about pastoring a church and not being an assistant anymore, he and his family may have to start a church, which would be better for him anyway.

CLOSING EDITORIAL NOTE: Daniel Whyte III says, by the way, when an accomplished, powerful, and strong man like Dr. Joel Tudman publicly says, “PRAY FOR US. OUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN AND DEVASTATED,” that is the mark of a truly humble man, and he sincerely wants you to pray for his family more than for himself.

Dr. Joel Tudman, former assistant pastor to T.D. Jakes and once considered the new senior pastor of The Faith Center Church in Sunrise, Florida, has reportedly been dismissed by Pastor Henry Fernandez, the very man he was expected to succeed.

Dr. Tudman, blessed with a large family, expressed his grief just hours ago, writing: “PRAY FOR US. OUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN AND DEVASTATED.”

Daniel Whyte III, President of Gospel Light Society International, offered three pointed comments on what he describes as “this evangelical-charismatic-Judas-Jezebel-Laodicean church chaos.” Quoting Scripture, Whyte reminded: “Let all things be done decently and in order.”

  1. A Question of Leadership: Why would T.D. Jakes overlook a seemingly humble, loyal, and accomplished minister like Dr. Tudman—who has raised nine children with his wife—in favor of appointing his divorced and remarried daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her divorced and remarried husband, Toure Roberts? If Tudman has a clean Christian record free of scandal, his leadership could have been a refreshing new chapter for The Potter’s House.

  2. A Troubling Pattern: Whyte suggests that sometimes one leader quietly releases an employee, knowing another leader will take them on—only to fire them later for questionable reasons. He hopes this was not the case between Jakes and Fernandez.

  3. A Way Forward: If Dr. Tudman truly desires to pastor rather than serve as an assistant, Whyte believes it may be time for him to plant his own church. In doing so, Tudman could lead with clarity, conviction, and independence.
