While the Premier League has a three-year period limit of $132m (£105m/€128m) for sustainability, League Two requires clubs to submit a business plan each season and provide cash upfront if they overspend on players. Neville finds this disparity absurd and has called for unified rules to prevent such discrepancies.

We need to get back to basics, real-time financial monitoring in football, create what football clubs can lose each year, what football clubs can put in as owner funding and monitor it on a very strict basis, equalize the rules across the four leagues and make the consequences of not doing so consistent.
