BREAKING NEWS: “THE Need the leave my Club in January with immediate effect I don’t want to see them anylonger – Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has instructed Pochettino to get Rid of FIVE FLOPS players.

If there’s one thing that Chelsea fans have come to expect from transfer windows in recent years it’s been activity, and plenty of it.

The Todd Boehly era has seen the Blues swing open the doors at their Cobham training ground with close to £1billion spent on new players during the last three transfer windows. Across that period of time, 33 new players joined the club at a rough average of one new signing every four and a half days.

As a result, the exit door has seen just as much activity as the welcome mat at Chelsea, with player sales needed to try and keep the club in line with Financial Fair Play rules and balance their books while already under investigation for alleged offences under previous owner Roman Abramovich.

With all this player movement going on in west London, it’s likely that January will be a quiet month for the Blues even if things still haven’t quite clicked on the pitch for the young side of new Chelsea players that Mauricio Pochettino has been tasked with fitting together and bringing a tune out of

It might well be that, after all the excitement of the last three windows of the Boehly administration, the fourth may feel like something of a damp squib.

So what’s the best-case scenario and the worst-case scenario for Chelsea for the January transfer window? We’re going to take a fun approach and imagine what that would look like in the most extreme cases.

Best case scenario
This one starts fairly simply, with all of the alleged offences that Chelsea have committed being dropped against them. No points deductions, relegations, fines or transfer bans to deal with and they can continue their business as usual of getting back to the top spots of the Premier League. That’s highly unlikely, but this is the best-case scenario.

What follows is a series of lightning-fast deals completed all within the first days of the window opening. It gives Pochettino the chance to get rid of those he doesn’t want in the squad and use the money to sign a handful of quality additions.

Among those to leave – with Chelsea somehow managing to receive well over market value for almost every player – are Malang Sarr, Trevor Chalobah and Ian Maatsen, while the Blues then manage to pull off a huge deal by recouping every penny of the £62million they paid for Marc Cucurella in a move that suits all parties

Lesley Ugochukwu and Deivid Washington both find suitable loan clubs to continue their development too, while there is a quick breakthrough in the hunt for a centre-forward as the Blues are able to use their recent financial boost to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and still end their business for January with a net profit.

Worst case scenario
As it’s Christmas, some of you might want to leave it there as this worst-case scenario is pretty grim. Some of you will have already guessed it starts with the book being thrown at Chelsea as they are found guilty of breaking FFP rules in a process rushed through during the holiday period.

The consequences are cataclysmic. The Blues are ejected from the Premier League and sent packing to the Championship via a huge and unprecedented points deduction that mathematically ensures they will finish bottom in May. Remember – extreme worst-case scenario.

Thankfully (for the purposes of this exercise only) the club aren’t under a transfer ban and so a flurry of player exits follows as Chelsea aims to gather funds to deal with the inevitable financial losses they will incur. The top stars all leave to join the Blues’ domestic and European rivals and only those loyal academy products remain at Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino vows to stay on until the end of the season but the Blues exit the FA Cup and Carabao Cup and are beaten by west London neighbours Fulham as well as Liverpool in their two Premier League fixtures. In the background, lawyers prepare a costly and draining plan to fight Chelsea’s case in the courts.
