Legend and creator of the iconic Ajegunle rhythm in the 1990s, John Oboh, popularly known as ‘Mighty Mouse,’ is dead, GISTSMATE MEDIA is reporting.

Mighty Mouse died on September 18 in Lagos after a prolonged illness believed to be cancer.

A source close to the family shared the news.

John Oboh was part of a remarkable family of 10 siblings, including Mabel Oboh, who serves as the African Democratic Congress (ADC)’s National Publicity Secretary. The Oboh family also boasts notable members such as Peter Oboh, the former British and Commonwealth Light Heavyweight boxing champion, and Chief Josephine Oboh-Macleod, a celebrated art collector, curator, and philanthropist.

Oboh stood as the godfather of Ajegunle City, crafting what would become the timeless Galala music genre.
