BREAKING: Adamawa Farmer, Sunday Jackson, on Death Row, freed from Prison After Gov Fintiri Exercises Prerogative of Mercy

Sunday Jackson, the Adamawa State farmer sentenced to death by the Supreme Court for killing a herdsman in self-defense, has been released from prison today.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri signed the pardon, granting clemency under Section 212 of the Nigerian Constitution following months of appeals from community leaders, human rights groups, and the victim’s family.

Jackson, who spent over a decade in custody, was attacked on his farm in 2015, leading to the fatal altercation. His case sparked national debate over self-defense rights and justice.

Supporters hail the decision as a victory for mercy and reconciliation. Jackson is expected to reunite with his family shortly.
