  • BMW will introduce the M5 Touring on August 15.
  • The model will become the first M5 Touring offered in America and it’s slated to arrive at dealerships next spring.
  • The wagon will have a plug-in hybrid powertrain developing 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.

Following a tease last month, BMW has confirmed plans to unveil the M5 Touring on August 15 in Pebble Beach. The model will be joined by the redesigned sedan, which is making its North American debut at the event.

Set to become the first M5 wagon in America, the model will follow in the footsteps of the sedan and have a plug-in hybrid powertrain that features a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 and an eight-speed automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor. This setup enables the models to have a combined output of 717 hp (535 kW / 727 PS) and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque.

The all-wheel drive sedan can rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.4 seconds, before hitting a top speed of up to 190 mph (306 km/h) when equipped with the optional M Driver’s Package. The sedan also has a 14.8 kWh battery pack, which should deliver an electric-only range of approximately 25 miles (40 km).

Besides the plug-in hybrid powertrain, we can expect an Adaptive M suspension, high-performance brakes, M-specific bracing, and staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels. The wagon should also have an Integral Active Steering system, which allows the rear wheels to turn up to 1.5°.

We can also expect a sporty, but functional design. Inside, there should be an M sport steering wheel, M multifunction seats, and an M tricolor welcome animation. They’ll be joined by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch infotainment system, and standard Aluminum Rhombicle trim.

The 2025 BMW M5 Sedan starts at $119,500 and is slated to arrive in America late this year. Pricing for the M5 Touring will be announced later and it’s coming stateside in the spring of 2025.
