Benjamin Fredrick ruled out of AFCON 2025 with knee injury

Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick is set to miss the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after suffering a knee injury.

Fredrick picked up the injury during training with Belgian Pro League side Dender last Friday. The 20-year-old had impressed on his Nigeria debut against the Reggae Boys of Jamaica in May and has started the Super Eagles’ last six matches under head coach Eric Chelle.

The versatile defender was absent from Dender’s 2–1 win over Royal Antwerp last weekend and is now expected to return to action only after the conclusion of AFCON 2025.

Fredrick is on loan at Dender from Premier League club Brentford.
