‘Bathroom tap water for drinking’: Instamart worker calls out store conditions during Bengaluru heat

As Bengaluru continues to battle rising temperatures, a post by an alleged Instamart worker from the city’s Jayanagar area has sparked outrage online over drinking water conditions inside a store.

In a Reddit post shared on the r/Swiggy community, the worker claimed employees at the outlet were being forced to depend on bathroom tap water for drinking because no proper water dispenser had been arranged at the store.

Calling out the company’s management, the user wrote, “The blo*dy company that runs this store doesn’t even have the basic courtesy of providing proper drinking water during this level of scorching heat.”

The worker alleged that while other stores had water dispensers, the Jayanagar outlet did not.

According to the post, packaged water cans brought to the store would often get exhausted “within seconds” because of the extreme heat and staff demand.

The user further claimed employees had to “beg for a couple of liters” from nearby stores if Swiggy’s auditing team visited the outlet after the water stock had run out.

In one of the most widely discussed claims from the post, the worker alleged that “the security guy collects the tap water from the bathroom and keeps it for drinking on that bottle.”
