ABU DHABI: Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed that emergency teams responded swiftly after a fire broke out in an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region. Officials said the incident was caused by a drone strike and was fully contained without injuries or disruption to nuclear operations.

The Barakah plant fire prompted an immediate response from specialised civil defence and safety crews, who secured the affected area and carried out precautionary procedures. Authorities confirmed there was no impact on radiation safety levels and no threat to nearby communities.

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation stated that the fire did not affect the plant’s operational safety or the readiness of essential systems. It added that all units at the facility continue to function normally and remain under continuous monitoring according to international safety standards.

Officials said that the affected generator was located outside the plant’s inner operational perimeter, helping prevent any disruption to critical infrastructure. Emergency response teams remained on site for inspections and follow-up assessments after the flames were extinguished.
