Bandits Demand N600M Ransom for Anglican Cleric and Wife Release, Shares photos

Bandits have released photos of Venerable Edwin Achi, a Pastor of Anglican and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Achi.

The criminal group is demanding a staggering sum of N600 million for their safe return.

The Abduction and Ransom Demand

The couple was tragically kidnapped on October 28th, 2025, from their residence in the Nissi village of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

The circulation of the photos, along with the ransom demand, confirms the severity of their captivity and the high-stakes nature of the ongoing negotiation.

Activist Urges Government Intervention

The distressful photos and details of the ransom were shared by activist Harrison Gwamnishu, a known advocate for victims of injustice and insecurity.

Gwamnishu, in sharing the images, has made a direct and emotional appeal for action. He “also pleaded to the federal government to intervene” immediately to secure the release of Ven. Edwin Achi and Mrs. Sarah Achi.

He wrote: “Ven. Edwin Achi of the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Kaduna, a native of Umuaja in Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State, and his wife Mrs. Sarah Achi, were kidnapped in Kaduna on 28th October 2025. Today, they remain in captivity, with the abductors demanding an outrageous N600,000,000 ransom,” he wrote.

“In the photo released by the kidnappers, other innocent victims are also seen, showing this is not an isolated attack but part of a growing wave of insecurity.

“I am calling on the Federal Government, the Kaduna State Government, and all relevant security agencies to act swiftly and decisively.
This situation is unacceptable.

“Every day these victims remain in captivity is another day of trauma and uncertainty for their families and communities. The Government must intervene immediately to secure their safe release.”
