Atiku Celebrates Amaechi on Birthday Amid ADC Primary Dispute

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has extended warm birthday wishes to former Minister of Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries.

In a message shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Atiku described Amaechi as “a brother and fellow patriot,” praising his dedication and contributions to Rivers State and Nigeria over the years.

“Happy Birthday to my brother and fellow patriot, H.E. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

“Your courage, conviction, and years of service to Rivers State and Nigeria continue to inspire many across the nation. I wish you good health, strength, and many more years of impactful service to our dear country,” Atiku wrote.

The birthday message comes barely 24 hours after Amaechi publicly rejected the outcome of the ADC presidential primaries, alleging widespread irregularities and voter suppression during the exercise.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Tuesday, Amaechi described the primary election results as “concocted results,” insisting that the process failed to meet the standards of fairness and transparency promised by the party.

The former Rivers State governor stated that he had made it clear beforehand that he would only accept the outcome if the process was conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.

“I will not accept results from a process that does not reflect the values that the ADC had pledged to uphold,” Amaechi declared.

He further alleged that nearly 80 percent of party members nationwide were disenfranchised and prevented from participating in the voting process.

Amaechi also accused the ADC of hypocrisy, saying the party could not continue condemning vote buying, election rigging, and manipulation by other political parties while allegedly engaging in similar practices during its own primaries.
