The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has announced that it had filed an appeal against the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal which last month overturned the provisional suspension imposed on Nigerias hurdler, Tobi Amusan. The AIU disclosed that it filed the appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) last Friday, the eve of the expiration of the 30-day window for appeal. The World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal had on 17 August lifted the ban on Amusan, claiming the athlete did not commit an anti-doping rule violation for Whereabouts Failures. The AIU in its post claimed it would not make further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the appeal.Amusan, who just won her third consecutive womens 100m hurdles Diamond League title in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday, September 17,  will now have to go through a fresh legal battle at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Amusan became the second woman in the 100m hurdles history after Dawn Nelson-Harper to win a hat-trick of 100m hurdles titles when she raced to a seasons best of 12.33secs with Puerto Ricos Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn Camacho-Quinn finishing second in 12.38secs while American Keni Harrison placed third in 12.44 secs. The victory came after a disappointing outing at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary where she placed sixth in the wake of her temporary suspension by the Athletics Integrity Unit for missing three whereabouts tests. The post Athletics Integrity Unit appeals Tobi Amusans doping violation clearance appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
