Aster nursing award organisers revealed 10 global finalists after receiving more than 134,000 registrations from healthcare professionals worldwide.

DUBAI: Aster DM Healthcare has announced the Top 10 finalists for the fifth edition of the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award 2026, following a record-breaking response from healthcare professionals worldwide. More than 134,000 registrations were received from nurses across 214 countries and economies, marking a significant rise from the previous edition and reinforcing the growing international recognition of the award.

The Aster nursing award honours nurses making measurable contributions across patient care, medical innovation, research and community health services. One finalist will receive the grand title and a prize of USD 250,000 during a gala event scheduled to take place in India in July 2026.

The shortlisted finalists represent healthcare institutions and organisations across the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, India, Colombia, Namibia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong SAR. Aster DM Healthcare said the selection process involved multiple evaluation stages, including expert assessments and reviews conducted by an independent Grand Jury panel.

Aster Founder Chairman Dr Azad Moopen said nurses continue to play a transformative role beyond bedside care, helping identify healthcare system gaps, drive innovation and mentor future professionals. He added that the record participation reflects the global importance of recognising nursing leadership and impact.

Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare GCC, said this year’s finalists demonstrate how modern nursing leadership increasingly focuses on sustainability, long-term healthcare improvements and capacity building within medical systems.

The final jury panel includes international healthcare leaders, academics and policy experts from organisations across Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. Ernst & Young LLP has been appointed as independent process advisors for the award.

Organisers said the Aster nursing award has evolved into one of the world’s largest healthcare recognition platforms dedicated exclusively to nurses, highlighting professionals who continue to shape patient outcomes and strengthen healthcare systems globally.
