Arachie family holds joint remembrance service for parents

The serene community of Adazi-Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area played host to a solemn yet celebratory joint remembrance service in honour of two revered pillars of the Arachie family and the wider Anaocha community—Late B.O. Arachie and his beloved wife, Late Felicia Omanukwue Arachie (née Adimora), fondly known as Enyi Igabela.

The occasion celebrated the lives and enduring legacies of the couple, whom the family aptly described as “Great Icons”—a fitting tribute to two individuals whose dedication, faith, humility, and strength continue to inspire their children, extended family, and the Anaocha people decades after their passing.

Late B.O. Arachie, who passed away 38 years ago, laid the foundation for what has grown into a distinguished family renowned for business excellence, community leadership, and the preservation of cultural heritage. His wife, Felicia Arachie, JP, joined him in eternity about a year ago at the remarkable age of 95. Widely remembered as a virtuous Christian mother and devoted matriarch, Enyi Igabela lived a life defined by grace, resilience, unwavering faith, and an unrelenting commitment to family and service.

Their son, Chief John Chukwudi Arachie (Odogwu Anaocha), a respected philanthropist, business leader, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Benejaf Construction Nigeria Limited, has continued the family’s tradition of excellence and community service. His contributions to infrastructure development, education, youth empowerment, and cultural preservation across Anaocha have earned him widespread admiration, with many attributing his passion for service to the solid values instilled by his parents.

In a remarkable demonstration of compassion and generosity, one of the daughters, Lady Christie Onwuzulike, also brought smiles to the faces of less-privileged women who attended the ceremony by distributing bags of rice and other essential items.

The remembrance service was held at Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Amolu, Adazi-Nnukwu—the family’s spiritual home where their Catholic faith has long been nurtured. A reception followed immediately at the Late B.O. Arachie Compound, where family members, friends, associates, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the remarkable lives of the departed couple.

Those in attendance described the event as more than a memorial; it was a powerful testament to legacy, family unity, and the enduring Igbo tradition of honouring ancestors while celebrating lives well lived.

“May their souls continue to rest in perfect peace,” the family prayed.

In Anaocha and beyond, the Arachie family story remains a shining example of what enduring family values, hard work, integrity, and faith can accomplish across generations. As loved ones gathered in remembrance, the focus was not on loss but on celebrating the timeless impact of two great icons whose light continues to shine through their children and the countless lives they touched.

May the souls of Late B.O. Arachie and Late Enyi Igabela Felicia Arachie continue to rest in perfect peace.
