Morocco’s billionaire landscape may soon count a new entrant as Alami Lazraq, the real estate magnate behind Alliances Développement Immobilier (ADI), sees his stake in the Casablanca-based developer approach $700 million. The rise reflects Lazraq’s growing prominence among Africa’s wealthiest investors.

Lazraq owns 51.7 percent of ADI — around 11.4 million shares — and his stake has jumped in recent times. In less than two weeks, his stake rose by MAD216.8 million ($23.8 million), climbing from MAD6.1 billion ($671.2 million) on Aug. 29 to MAD6.32 billion ($695 million).

This follows an earlier increase of MAD764.52 million ($84.95 million) between Aug. 8 and 23, when Lazraq’s stake increased from MAD5.45 billion ($606.03 million) to MAD6.22 billion ($690.98 million). Analysts attribute the gains to growing investor confidence in Morocco’s property market and the company’s steady leadership.

ADI shares gain 3.55 percent; market cap surge above $1.4 billion

Founded 25 years ago, ADI forms the core of Lazraq’s Alliances Group, which has expanded across Morocco and North Africa. The company has earned a reputation for developing housing, tourism, and infrastructure projects, helping shape Morocco’s urban landscape.

In the last 10 days alone, ADI shares have risen 3.55 percent, from MAD535 ($58.82) to MAD554 ($60.91), bringing the company's market capitalization above $1.4 billion. The stock's performance in 2025 has been consistent, with a 5.52 percent increase thus far. A $100,000 investment at the beginning of the year would now be worth around $105,520.

Alami Lazraq close to billionaire list

If the current trend holds, Alami Lazraq could officially join Morocco’s billionaire ranks, becoming the fourth on the list after Othman Benjelloun, Anas Sefrioui, and Aziz Akhannouch. ADI’s growth reflects wider gains in Moroccan equities, where several companies have delivered double-digit returns this year, linking the real estate sector to emerging wealth creation.

There is more to Lazraq's success with ADI than just the numbers. It demonstrates how Morocco's economy is impacted by strategic real estate development and the opportunity it presents for market-savvy leaders.

As investor confidence rises, Lazraq’s recent gains and ADI’s recent rebound demonstrate how careful real estate development leadership may result in significant riches, establishing Morocco as a breeding ground for new North African billionaire profiles.
