The Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Ghana, Robert Klah has shed light on the reasons behind Amaarae’s withdrawal from the 25th TGMAs performance.

Amaarae, an American-based Ghanaian artist, decided not to perform just a few hours before her scheduled slot on June 2. She cited “incredible disrespect” from Charterhouse’s production team as the cause for her refusal to perform.

Amaarae took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to express her disappointment, stating that her team had been neglected despite multiple attempts to communicate with the Charterhouse production team.

Additionally, they were denied a rehearsal the night before the event. During an interview on Hitz FM on Thursday, June 6, Mr. Klah clarified that Amaarae’s decision to withdraw from the performance was due to “unaligned expectations.” Initially, the artist had specific requests that were not initially fulfilled, but they were eventually addressed before the main event.

Mr. Klah further explained that although other issues arose, efforts were being made to resolve them when the artist made the decision to withdraw from the performance.

“I would summarize it as unaligned expectations. Indeed, there was a request that was not initially met, but eventually, it was fulfilled. However, other matters came up, and while we were working on resolving them, the artist decided to pull out.”

Mr. Klah chose not to delve into the specific details of the subsequent issues, stating that further discussions regarding the matter would be handled between the artist and the organizers.
