AEW title bouts set for Darby Allin & Willow Nightingale on Collision

Darby Allin and Willow Nightingale are fighting champions in AEW, and now their next title defenses are set for Collision on Saturday night. A lot of the card was formulated through events on ROH Supercard of Honor. Allin will face another pillar, and Willow will clash with another TV champion.

Sammy Guevara was victorious over Action Andretti in singles action on the Zero Hour pre-show. Sammy wanted to defend the ROH tag titles, but Beast Mortos is dealing with visa issues. Tony Khan plans to send LFI to Mexico to put their gold on the line. The Spanish God has eyes for more treasure, and he challenged fellow pillar Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship on Collision.

Red Velvet retained the ROH Women’s World Television Championship against Viva Van, however, she felt slighted about being left out of the Owen Hart tournament. Velvet is using that anger as motivation to answer Willow’s open challenge for the TBS Championship. She is coming back to AEW in a battle of TV champions.

The updated lineup for Collision on May 16 includes:

  • AEW World Championship: Darby Allin (c) vs. Sammy Guevara
  • TBS Championship: Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Red Velvet
  • Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, & Kyle O’Reilly vs. Shane Taylor Promotions
  • Samoa Joe & Anthony Bowens vs. Jay Lethal & Lee Johnson
  • AEW women’s tag team champions Divine Dominion in five-minute eliminator

Shane Taylor and the Infantry lost the ROH six-man titles to Dalton Castle and the Outrunners at Supercard of Honor. STP were poor sports and attacked after the match. Orange Cassidy and Mark Briscoe made the save. Backstage, STP wanted a fight with the Conglomeration. If STP wins, then they get a shot at the AEW trios titles. Briscoe didn’t back down from that challenge, and he had a wild word of the day. “Hometown Ass Whooping.”

Prior to Blake Christian challenging Bandido for the ROH World Championship (Bandido retained the prize), Jay Lethal patted himself on the back for mentoring Vanilla Baby to the title opportunity. Lethal insulted his old mentor, Samoa Joe, as a clown. Lethal thinks Anthony Bowens is too stupid to see realize that Joe is a fool. Lethal issued a tag match challenge.
