AEW books three title matches for Grand Slam Australia

As we were watching Dynamite in the Cageside “offices” earlier tonight (Feb. 4), we were musing about potential challengers’ all-time record in AEW head booker Tony Khan’s beloved Eliminator matches. We ended up thinking of 5-6 we were pretty confident the champ had been beaten to set-up a title match. After the night was over, we had two more.

Earlier, I wrote about the big one while generating some more threatening emails and DMs for myself: Brody King’s Hangman Page-assisted victory over World champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman. It set-up a title match between the two for Sat., Feb. 14’s Grand Slam Australia show. The newly-christened MegaBad earned themselves a Women’s Tag title match by beating Babes of Wrath clean. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford took out Willow Nightingale, then finished Harley Cameron with their version of a Doomsday Device.

Since he’s won all his Eliminators since taking the Continental title from Kazuchika Okada at Worlds End, TK went head and booked Jon Moxley’s first official defense for next weekend in Sydney. He and Konosuke Takeshita have been circling one another as Death Riders beef with The Don Callis Family. Takeshita pinned Daniel Garcia to win the show-opening trios match between the two groups…

… then it was made official later in the show.

With those, the card for Grand Slam Australia now looks like this:

  • Revolution World Title Eliminator: Hangman Page vs. Andrade El Idolo
  • Hair vs. Hair Tornado Tag: Toni Storm & Orange Cassidy vs. Wheeler Yuta & Marina Shafir
  • AEW Continental championship match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita
  • AEW Women’s Tag Team championship match: Babes of Wrath (Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron) (c) vs. MegaBad (Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne)

Let us know what you think of that line-up, and get a rundown of everything from the Feb. 4 Dynamite here.
