Ademola Lookman: Nigeria pushes me to new level

UEFA Europa League Final hero Ademola Lookman has said the support he has received from Nigeria has lifted him to a higher level both as a player and as a person.

The 26-year-old forward fired a sensational hat-trick to give Atalanta their first-ever European trophy in 117 years.

He is the first player to achieve this feat.

He also ended a record 51-game unbeaten run of Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen on a night Atalanta became the first Italian winners of the Europa League.

“The unwavering support and love I get back home (from Nigeria) are unbelievable,” he said at the official post-match press conference.

“It gives me the motivation to inspire me not just as a player, but also as a person.

“It has taken me to a new level.

“The AFCON, where we unfortunately lost in the final, has catapulted us the Super Eagles back again and we got the support back home.

“That’s incredible.”
