‎The Adamawa Emirate Council on Thursday witnessed a smooth administrative transition as Alhaji Umaru Yahya formally handed over the responsibilities of Acting Secretary of the council to Mohammed Abubakar Na’ibi.

‎The handover ceremony, which took place on July 2, 2026, marked a significant step in the council’s administrative operations, with traditional leaders, council staff and stakeholders expressing confidence in the continuity of effective service delivery within the revered institution.

‎During the brief but symbolic ceremony, Alhaji Umaru Yahya transferred official documents and responsibilities to his successor, Mohammed Abubakar Na’ibi, who now assumes the role of Acting Secretary of the Adamawa Emirate Council.

‎Sources within the council described the transition as orderly and in line with the emirate’s longstanding tradition of maintaining administrative stability and institutional continuity.

‎Speaking at the event, participants commended Alhaji Umaru Yahya for his contributions during his tenure as Acting Secretary, noting that his service helped strengthen the day-to-day administration of the council.

‎Mohammed Abubakar Na’ibi, on his part, pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor and work closely with the leadership of the emirate to advance the council’s objectives.

‎The Adamawa Emirate Council remains one of the most influential traditional institutions in Northern Nigeria, playing a vital role in preserving cultural heritage, promoting peace, and supporting community development across the state.

‎The transition comes at a time when the council continues to engage actively in issues affecting the emirate, reinforcing its commitment to good governance, transparency and the preservation of traditional values.
