A Party Will Never Be So Helpless To Watch Its Gov Get Harassed By Govt Instruments -Segun Sowunmi

In a recent interview with Arise TV, a prominent member of the PDP, Segun Sowunmi, criticized Minister Nyesom Wike for what he sees as a betrayal of the party. Sowunmi accused Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, of compromising his allegiance by collaborating with the APC in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), despite still being affiliated with the PDP.

Sowunmi expressed his disappointment with Wike’s actions, stating that they have hindered the PDP from effectively addressing the crisis in Rivers State, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara faces harassment from government entities. He emphasized that a political party cannot stand by idly while its governor is intimidated and bullied.

He emphasized that the primary issue lies with Minister Nyesom Wike’s involvement in the FCT, despite not fully aligning with either the PDP or APC, as one cannot be in both. If Governor Wike hadn’t compromised his position by assisting the APC in FCT matters, perhaps the party could have garnered more support and addressed the situation more effectively.

During an interview on Arise Television, he remarked, “We cannot be pretending as if we don’t know that the elephant in the room here is the minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, and the complication there is that he’s neither in PDP nor in APC because no man can be in both. Had it been governor Wike was not compromised by his staying with the APC to help them with their work in FCT, I concede that people say he’s doing well, i see some of those efforts, maybe we would have even been able to pull them in and speak better from the point of view of the party but a political party will never allow itself to be so helpless as to be watching a governor on his table to get harassed by the instrument of government.”..……..See More
