58 Nigerian Women & Children Rescued From Human Traffickers In Ghana

In a significant breakthrough, 58 Nigerian women and children have been rescued from human traffickers in Ghana, bringing the total number of rescued Nigerians in Accra to 105 over the past three months.Callistus Elozieuwa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Board of Trustees in Ghana, shared this update with Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), during her recent visit to the rescued victims in Accra.According to a statement from NIDCOM's Head of Media and Public Relations, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the breakdown of the newly rescued individuals includes 47 from Kano, 5 from Katsina, 2 from Jigawa, and 4 from Kaduna. In addition to these, 11 girls had been rescued earlier and are currently under NIDO's care.The statement also revealed that several suspected traffickers have been apprehended and handed over to security agencies and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further inves

Dabiri-Erewa expressed her appreciation to NIDO Ghana, the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, and Ghanaian law enforcement agencies for their collaborative efforts in combating human trafficking.
