Maybe we're reading too much into it, but it feels like a changing of the guard when a well-kept 1968 Chevrolet Corvette with a 327-cubic-inch (5.4-liter) V8 engine can't manage to fetch $40,000 at auction. There are Corvettes that are worth their weight in gold, but this one sold for about what you'd spend on a new Nissan Pathfinder.
