Residents of Buipe woke to a shocking sight on Sunday, February 22, when three vehicles were engulfed in flames following an early morning road collision.

Firefighters from the Buipe Fire Station acted swiftly to contain the blaze, preventing what could have been a far deadlier incident.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, a distress call came in around 5:35 am reporting a flat-bed trailer carrying 1,000 bags of cement and a low-bed truck transporting a Hyundai van.

By the time the six-member crew, led by ASTNO Seidu Abdul Basit, arrived at 5:43 am, the vehicles were heavily ablaze.

Firefighters used water and foam concentrate to battle the flames, bringing the fire under control by 6:13 a.m. and fully extinguishing it by 6:55 a.m.

Preliminary findings suggest the fire started when the low-bed truck attempted to overtake a broken-down trailer, triggering a collision that ignited the vehicles.

The accident resulted in extensive damage to the vehicles, including burnt head compartments, side wheels, and part of the cement cargo.

Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the incident.
