2027: My Loyalty Is To Nigerians, Not Atiku Or Wike — Olawepo-Hashim

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that his allegiance lies with the Nigerian people and principles.

He emphasised that his loyalty is not to political godfathers or factions within the party.

The statement was made on Thursday, during an interview on Arise Television.

Olawepo-Hashim clarified that he does not belong to the camps of Vice President Atiku Abubakar or FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

“I do not belong to any camp. I am Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim.

“I have always stood on my own political convictions and principles,” he said, emphasizing his independence within the party.

Speaking further, he addressed past political alignments and disagreements.

“With due respect to former Governor Wike, I cannot be described as his political boy. Twenty-five years ago, when we were debating zoning and tenure extension within the PDP National Executive Committee, where was Wike in the party? As for Waziri Atiku Abubakar, I also do not belong to his camp.

“ Even when he was Vice President, we had clear political disagreements,” Olawepo-Hashim added.

The PDP chieftain’s remarks come amid growing discussions ahead of the 2027 elections, as political godfathers and power blocs attempt to consolidate influence within the party.

By distancing himself from both camps, Olawepo-Hashim positioned himself as a principled actor focused on national interest rather than factional politics.

He concluded by reiterating his commitment to serving Nigerians and upholding his political convictions, signaling a stance that prioritizes the people over internal party divisions.
