Abayomi Arabambi, the Labour Party’s National Vice Chairman (South-West), commented on the political prospects of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar while discussing possible outcomes ahead of the 2027 presidential election nationally.

According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of SYMFONI on Thursday, July 9, 2026, while responding to a question about who could best challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, he stated, “I won’t lie to you, I have my fears because I believe Atiku is the strongest candidate who can defeat Tinubu.”

Arabambi argued that, in his opinion, Atiku possesses broader electoral strength across different parts of Nigeria, expressing confidence that the former vice president could mount a stronger nationwide challenge than other opposition figures seeking support before the election.

He also shared his view that Peter Obi could influence voting patterns in the South, while maintaining that Atiku remained the opposition figure he believed had the greatest chance of presenting a competitive contest against President Tinubu nationally.
