books to get back into reading

When I was a kid, nothing was more exciting than the Scholastic book fair. Silent reading time was something I looked forward to every day, and it seemed I could run through new books each week without growing tired of it. But no one really prepares you for what it’s like when that excitement and joy that once came so naturally starts to fade, whether you want it to or not. Life got harder, responsibilities piled up, and social plans filled my calendar. And somewhere along the way, books drifted to the back burner.

Fast-forward to a year ago, when I finally felt I had the time and energy to reclaim my love of reading. But getting back into reading is so much harder than it sounds. I couldn’t find anything that excited me, and the sheer number of new authors and trending books was overwhelming. What I wish I had—a curated guide of books you simply can’t put down—is what I’m giving to you today. So if you’re trying to reconnect with stories that pull you in, this is for you. Here are 20 books that will launch you straight back into the world of reading and help you find that spark again. And while you’re reigniting that passion, join The Everygirl Book Club for a supportive reading community along the way.
