19 Clothing Pieces Under $50 No One Would Guess Came from Walmart

One of the biggest findings from producing our Skimm Shopping newsletter lately? Walmart is oh so back and Skimm’rs can’t get enough. The big box retailer has majorly zhuzhed up its clothing department, with Brandon Maxwell behind one of its top in-house brands, Free Assembly, and Scoop making a resurgence. Because of that, I’ve rounded up some of the best finds on Walmart’s website under $50. We’ve got a mix of designer dupes and affordable finds that look way more expensive than they are.

A ruched tote bag that’ll fit your laptop…

At 18-inches wide, this faux-leather tote is an ideal choice for commuting. It’ll fit your laptop, along with a pair of flats and other work-day essentials. The ruched detailing makes it look designer, while keeping everything secure. It has long straps and a magnetic closure, too.

Some $20 kitten heels…

It’s hard to find comfortable heels, let alone ones that aren’t overpriced. I love Time and Tru’s options because they’re on-trend, get the job done, and are just so cheap. The pointed toe and cinched silhouette make this pair perfect for weddings or the office.

A pair of strappy sandals from one of our go-to brands…

Our Director swears by these strappy heels for vacation because they look cute with pretty much everything, pack easily, and are comfortable to wear. PS: Check out the other hall-of-fame styles we can’t get enough of here.

Some dupes for Repetto’s heeled flats..

I’ve been eyeing Repetto’s Camile Flats for awhile now, but I can’t justify the near $500 price. On a late-night internet deep dive, I found this $25 pair from Walmart and bought them immediately. I love to wear them with everything from jeans to dresses. Just note, I had to go down a size.

The Hill House-esque dress Skimm’rs are buying on repeat…

Skimm’rs are obsessed with this smock dress. It reminds me of Hill House at a fraction of the cost, plus it’s an easy dress you can throw on with flats, sneakers, or sandals. Perfect for the days when it’s so hot you don’t know what to wear.

A lacy camisole that’s Miranda Priestly approved…

In honor of The Devil Wears Prada 2, Scoop created a collection ahead of the film’s release. There are so many design-forward pieces, but this cami is a standout. Pick from three colorways. You can wear it on its own or underneath a blazer. Don’t forget the shorts to go with it.

A jacket silhouette that’s extra trendy…

Call me crazy, but Walmart is one of the best places to try trendy silhouettes you wouldn’t want to spend a ton on (especially if you’re not 100% sure of how it will look on you). This style of blouson jacket is very in, and I love this white one going into chilly summer nights. It’s made of 99% cotton with a little bit of stretch.

An office-friendly dress that screams spring…

This scuba shift dress is another solid piece for the office. You can walk out the door as is or dress it up with some accessories. Add a pair of heels and you can take it to after-dinner drinks.

An asymmetrical dress that’s ready for your next vacation…

Upon first look, I really thought this dress was Reformation. It’s really just Madden NYC doing the most, with airbrushed floral detailing and a bright-but-not-too-bright butter yellow. I’d add this white clutch and a minimal pair of sandals.

A ruffled dress that feels modern…

This fresh take on ruffles reminds me of Limited Too’s chic older sister, and I’m here for it. Between the pale yellow color and the racerback tank design, no one would ever guess you got this one for $34. If you have a bachelorette coming up and don’t want to spend more than you already have (feel you), try this.

An eyelet top for every situation…

Ever since Doen came out with its Traveler Top, it feels like every brand has created its own version. This one from Free Assembly looks eerily similar, but is made with a chambray. I’d pair this one with white jeans and call it a day.

A smock peplum top under $30…

These smock tank tops are everywhere this season, and once again, I’d rather spend less on a trend I’m not sure will last. This one comes in a bright popsicle orange that’s surprisingly easy to wear. I’d go for chestnut leather accessories.

A cutout bag that’s ideal for errands…

If you’re looking for a stylish bag that’s practical, but still cute, go for this cutout one. It’s a medium-sized bucket bag, so it’ll hold all of your main essentials. Sometimes, I need a dressed-up, spacious errand bag (that isn’t a nylon sling). This checks those boxes.

A short-sleeve sweater that’ll make a statement…

I’m always looking for a fun top for the warmer months that isn’t a T-shirt. This embroidered sweater has tons of bright floral appliques that’ll do the hard styling work for you. Wear it with a pair of jeans on its own or with a tank.

Some of the most comfortable jeans I’ve worn…

This wide-leg pair from No Boundaries has an elastic waistband in the back, which makes them extra-comfy to wear. I always go for a light wash for spring and summer, but this $17 style comes in seven colorways, along with three different lengths.

And a cute pair of jeans to wear with sandals…

These cuffed jeans are the easiest silhouette to wear with a sneaker or jean because they show just the right amount of skin. They come in both white and blue washes, and they’re made with 1% spandex for a little bit of stretch.

A basic cardigan to keep in your bag…

For when ACs are cranked up, you can’t go wrong with an inexpensive, basic cardigan. This one comes in five different colorways, but I’m opting for the white because it’ll go with everything. And because it’s so lightweight, it’ll fold nicely into most totes.

A statement button-down…

Can you tell I’m in my cute tops era? This button-down is great because you can wear it on its own or as a statement shacket. It has dainty beaded floral embellishments and matching pants.

A no-frills midi dress we’re buying in every color…

There’s no better time to stock up on midi dresses than now. They’re basically my uniform for the summer since they’re easy to change up with accessories. This one from Free Assembly has sweet scalloped detailing along the neckline. I’m buying it in black and sky blue.
