10 Patients Di£ After Fire Breaks Out in Hospital Trauma Care Unit in India

At least 10 people have lost their lives after a fire broke out in the trauma care unit of a hospital in Odisha on Monday.

Reports indicate that five other individuals were critically injur£d, although it remains unclear whether their injuri£s were caused by the fire or were related to medical conditions they were already being treated for.

Speaking to reporters while visiting the hospital, Mohan Charan Majhi said the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit in the trauma centre during the early hours of Monday.

According to officials, at least 23 patients were receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at the time of the incident. During the emergency evacuation, 10 patients reportedly died while being moved to a safer area away from the fire.

Authorities also praised the bravery of medical workers and security personnel who took part in the rescue operation.

“Medical staff and security personnel risked their lives in rescuing the patients; during this, they too sustained injuries, and they too are under treatment,” Majhi added.
