The Dangote Group, led by President and Chief Executive Officer Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is pioneering innovation and growth in Africa. The group is expected to have an exciting, enriching, and beautiful future.

Dangote Cement is the only cement company in Africa using robots for some of its operations. This sets it apart from other cement companies on the continent, including those that started over a hundred years before Dangote Cement. The use of robots in labs ensures quality products and demonstrates the company commitment to innovation.

“We are the only cement plant in Africa using robots in our labs. All our labs are controlled by robots. And you can see from the quality of our products,” Dangote said during a media parley and tour of the refinery and petrochemical complex on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

The group is also the lowest cost producer due to integration along the value chain and owning its fleet, enabling prompt direct delivery to customers. This efficiency ensures that the group remains competitive in the market.

Alhaji Dangote also painted a beautiful picture of the group’s future:

– Expanding cement production to 62 million metric tonnes per annum by 2025, solidifying its position as the largest producer in Africa.

– Building a new tomato factory to diversify its product offerings.

– Building a new 6 million tonnes cement factory in Ogun State mainly for export, creating excess domestic supply and exporting the excess.

– Operating in ten countries and looking at another three, expanding its footprint across Africa.

– Producing over 1,000MW of power for self-consumption, ensuring energy efficiency.

– Upstream production (Block 71 and 72) with crude production starting in August (about 25,000 barrels per day), marking a significant milestone in the group’s energy sector.

– Ensuring every single steel used in Africa comes from Nigeria, promoting local production.

– Exporting 5 million tonnes of clinker to countries where they don’t have limestone, generating $325 million annually.

– The rice mill has a delay, but some will be completed this year, including Jigawa and Sokoto.

– Building a new head office on Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi (Lagos), which will have 18 floors, designed by James Cubitt and constructed by the Engineering, Procurement and Construction arm of the group.

The group’s revenue is estimated to be in excess of $30 billion next year, with a growth rate of 6 times over the next year. Dangote aims to make the group the biggest supplier of foreign exchange in the forex market, rather than demanding forex from the Central Bank of Nigeria. The group has spent $25.2 billion in the last few years consolidating its businesses, despite the devaluation.

With 31 projects going on simultaneously at a time, the group is poised for continued growth and innovation.
