WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR SEPT. 2

Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face. Caesar’s palace, morning glory, silly human race. On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place, if the summer change to winter, yours is no disgrace, be mine? Well I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with Wade Barrett introducing Joe Tessitore to the commentary booth.

A recap of Bash in Berlin follows.

We get the usual montage of talent arriving at the arena.

Rhea Ripley makes her entrance and gets on the mic.

She welcomes us to Monday Night Mami and says it feels good to say that again, but better than that is her and Damian Priest brutalizing Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio on Saturday. And they’re just getting started, because after all, she pinned the WWE Women’s World Champion, and if Liv is as tough as she pretends to be—

Enter Dominik Mysterio, with a black eye and burst blood vessel.

He starts talking but gets drowned out by boos and shouts in Spanish. He gets in the ring and says Liv isn’t here tonight for multiple reasons but she will accept Rhea’s challenge because she’s beat her before and she’ll beat her again, and after he wins the Intercontinental Championship they’ll both have gold.

Ripley wants to put it in a way he’ll understand, and she calls him stupid in Spanish. If his little courageous Liv doesn’t want to come out and play, she has a message— she’ll fight her any time, any place. Mysterio repeats that and Ripley warns him not to make her repeat herself.

Liv comes out of nowhere and Rhea swats her aside with a back elbow! Ripley goes after Dom and gets hung by her foot in the ropes as Morgan puts boots to her and works her knee! Liv slides to the floor and pulls Rhea in for a kiss on the cheek but runs away as Damian Priest makes the save!

We get a recap of Uncle Howdy’s in-ring debut from last week.

American Made are backstage and Chad Gable is mad about it. He yells that they won’t be put in that position again and calls the Creeds and Ivy Nile the best athletes that have walked through those doors in years and insists they go out and show it, slapping Julius Creed across the face for good measure as they leave for their entrance and we go to break.

Alpha Academy (Akira Tozawa, Maxxine Dupri, & Otis Dozovic) vs. American Made (Brutus Creed, Ivy Nile, & Julius Creed) (Mixed Tag Team Match)

All six people in the ring and fighting, referee Chad Patton trying to restore order, settling down with Tozawa on Julius, tag to Otis and Creed bails. Nile tags in, she wants to fight but Dozer won’t, and here comes Dupri as the legal woman to take her out and make a quick tag back to Dozovic.

Tag to Tozawa, using him as a weapon, airplane spinning him into the Creeds. Maxxine sees an opportunity and lands a diving crossbody to the floor as we go to break!

Back from commercial, springboard moonsault from Brutus gets two on Akira! Tag to Dozovic, taking it to Brutus, back elbow, roll under Julius, big lariat connects! Back body drops on both Creeds, Stinger Splash, Caterpillar connects! Tozawa in and running hot, suicide dives on both Creeds, Julius catches his right into a belly-to-belly suplex on the floor!

Otis blasts the taller Creed off the apron, Brutus Ball wipes him out, Maxxine tags in! Lariat and a knee on Ivy, fisherman suplex and she kips up! Solebutt in the corner, hip swivel, she tears her shirt off, handspring inverted Worm but Chad Gable runs interference and she takes the time to kick him off the apron!

Nile with a roundhouse kick...

American Made win by submission with Compassionate Release from Ivy Nile on Maxxine Dupri.

Post-match Chad Gable gets on the mic to demand applause for “the greatest fighting family in WWE” and denies that he sucks, saying last week was supposed to be one-on-one but of course Uncle Howdy had to get the freakshow involved. But that’s his fault, and he’s seen what it’ll take to beat him, so he’s calling him out for an atomicos match next week.

And in true American fashion, he’ll make sure this is the end of all of this crap, because it’ll be a street fight! They won’t just get rid of the Wyatts for us and for the locker room, but for America! Pick whatever four freaks you want—

The lights go down.

Uncle Howdy appears on the stage.

375 days his sanity crumbled, his path is in the void now. The silence is deafening, but he can still hear. His life is no longer his, so if this is the path Chad has chosen, who is he to deflect him from his undoing? He’s gambling his very being, and they will collect the debt.

Commentary hypes up the Intercontinental Championship #1 contender’s tournament and we go to break.

Shayna Baszler vs. Zelina Vega

Vega with la casadora arm drag, charging in, block a kick, taking Baszler down for a bicep stomp but she dodges! Arm drag, into the corner, big elbow, Zelina slips out and kicks her down! Dropkick sends Shayna to the floor, and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Vega with a satellite DDT, headed up top, moonsault connects, only two! Baszler recovers...

Shayna Baszler wins by pinfall with a knee strike.

Post-match, Lyra Valkyria runs in to help Zelina Vega out but the Pure Fusion Collective overwhelm them with That Damn Numbers Game.

Sonya Deville gets on the mic and tells the crowd to sit down, shut up, and show some respect. She says everyone in the crowd and at home are pathetic. There’s not a man in the audience that could take them home and no woman that can take them, period, but step up and shoot your shot.

Rhea Ripley is on crutches backstage and waves it off, telling Damian Priest it’s just a precaution. Damian complains that Finn Balor will only fight him in a tag team match but he doesn’t have any friends and Balor won’t accept a mixed tag team match. Rhea tells him to go tell Adam Pearce to make the match, because she knows a guy.

Priest tells her to tell him what the guy says.

We see CM Punk walking backstage and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Lyra Valkyria and Zelina Vega talk about their struggles against Pure Fusion Collective and Lyra says she has an idea for next week.

CM Punk makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He starts by saying off he never gets sick of the CM Punk chants before launching into his spiel. He says it’s good to be on the other side of a very personal and ugly issue and now that that’s out of the way he gets to get down to business. Because that’s what he is, he’s a businessman.

When he came back he said he was here to make money not friends, and he’ll take that money however he can, and he calls GUNTHER out, saying nothing can fix the chip on his shoulder but that belt, and it’s time CM Punk woke up as champion.

His music plays and he poses on the announce desk but Drew McIntyre is here and attacks him from behind! Beating him down on the announce desk, mounted punches, slamming the back of his head into the desk over and over again! Wade Barrett pulls him away and tries to talk some sense into him but he won’t listen! CLAYMORE!

In the ring he puts boots to Punk and takes the bracelet back as road agents try to wave him off... AND HE BREAKS THE BRACELET AND SHOVES THE BEADS IN PUNK’S MOUTH! CLAYMORE!

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a recap of what we just saw as we see CM Punk stretchered out of the arena picture-in-picture.

Drew McIntyre waylays the stretcher right before they get him in the amublance and he tears at the neck brace as Punk bleeds from the mouth! Gouging his eyes, referees and road agents barely pull him away and CM gets loaded into the ambulance.

Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee vs. Ilja Dragunov (WWE Intercontinental Championship #1 Contender’s Tournament First Round Match)

Mysterio with elbows for both men, a kick for Dragunov and now the babyfaces get the better of him and dump him to the floor! Side headlock, shot off, shoulder block, drop down, Dragon sidesteps a boot, tijeras sends Ilja sprawling. Lee off the ropes, Dominik trips him up, slingshot senton atomico, dropkick in the ropes!

Michinoku driver connects, Dragon kicks out and Dominik flexes. Chopping Ilja in the corner but he shrugs it off and stares him down, cutting him down with a single chop of his own! Rolling German suplexes, the third connecting on both men and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Mysterio with the 619, Ilja blocks, kick on the apron, pull him up, fireman’s carry... DEATH VALLEY DRIVER ON THE APRON! Lee with the diving tijeras over the ropes, back up on the apron, headed up top, but Carlito runs interference and shoves him down! Mounted punches, Damian Priest makes the save!

Dragunov and Lee getting into it, Dragon hits the Liger Bomb... NOPE! Ilja with the Blu-Ray, cover for two, up in the Tree of Woe and Lee double stomps him! Drawing him up in the corner, hesitation dropkick connects! Lining Ilja up, he blocks the DDT, small package... STILL NO!

Superkick from Dragon, rising knee, another superkick, Ilja lines him up...

Ilja Dragunov wins by pinfall with Torpedo Moskau on Dragon Lee.

We get a recap of the match between Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman from last week.

Backstage Adam Pearce is interviewed about Bronson Reed getting taken out of the Intercontinental Championship contender’s tournament when Braun Strowman rolls up to ask for the spot, saying medical has cleared him. Pearce tells him to look him in the eye and tell him he can go, Braun does so, and Adam puts him in and says he has to go talk to medical.

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill make their entrance as your WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions to be at ringside for our next match and we go to break.

Damage CTRL (IYO SKY & Kairi Sane) vs. Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn) (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s Match)

Fyre and Sane to start, Kairi quickly isolated, quick tag but she shrugs off a slap from Dawn! Float over a suplex, whip across, springboard into a tijras, Isla to the floor and Sane dives on her with an elbow! Backfist on Alba, IYO with a moonsault to the floor on her and Damage CTRL stare the tag champions down as we go to break!

Back from commercial, Dawn with a German suplex on Sane, backsplash, trying to keep her cut off but she gets away and crawls for the tag! Fyre in, kick to the back, suplex reversed! SKY legal, dropkick takes both of them out, bridging German suplex... ISLA BREAKS IT UP! Kairi sends her to the floor and Dawn pulls Bianca Belair in the way of a dive!

Right hand from IYO, back and forth...

Unholy Union win by pinfall with the KLR Bomb / reverse STO combination on IYO SKY, becoming #1 contenders to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

Post-match, Belair and Cargill square up with Damage CTRL.

Kofi Kingston is backstage talking to Adam Pearce about how Judgment Day haven’t defended their titles in two months. He has a proposal but we don’t get to hear it because the camera follows GUNTHER on his way to his entrance and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Damian Priest rolls up on Rhea Ripley.

Her mystery man didn’t say yes, he said “yeet.” He says he still has to talk with him then but he appreciates her.

GUNTHER makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He talks about how Bash in Berlin had the highest gate of any arena show in WWE history and now us degenerates have the honor of looking at the man responsible for it. And there’s more to celebrate, since he beat one of the greatest legends this business has ever seen and yes, he said a lot of personal things and even though he was right he only said those things to provoke him into being the greatest Randy Orton of all time.

And now he can stand here and say he’s beaten that version of Randy Orton. That big weekend was just another chapter in the legacy of the greatest World Heavyweight Champion in history—

Enter Sami Zayn.

He says it’s funny that GUNTHER’s talking about legacy because he’s spent the last couple weeks thinking about his Intercontinental Championship reign and everybody talks about it as the great workhorse title but people always forget that the true greats, the greatest of the greats, your “Macho Man” Randy Savages, “Stone Cold” Steve Austins, the Rocks, Triple Hs, Shawn Michaelses, his hero as a kid, Bret “Hitman” Harts.

All of those guys won the Intercontinental Championship as a stepping stone to the world title. That’s what GUNTHER has done and now, that’s what Sami is doing. He wants the World Heavyweight Championship! GUNTHER tells him he’s right, but where he and those men he listed stepped up after losing the Intercontinental Championship, Zayn stepped down.

But he thinks that’s why the fans really like him, because when he gets knocked down he picks himself up and returns to the ring, and now he’s standing in front of him challenging him for his title, and he hears the passion in his voice and sees the fire in his eyes, so if he really wants the title more than anything, his answer is “no.”

The Ring General leaves and Sami calls after him.

He says he’s watched his entire career and he’s never backed down from a fight, so why back down from this one? He thinks for as great as he’s been, he knows full well that Sami is the only guy who’s ever beaten him in the middle of the ring. He can run as long as he likes, but make no mistake, Zayn is coming for that title.

Jey Uso is interviewed backstage.

He’s interrupted in his hype by Bron Breakker, who stares him down and tells him no member of his family has ever beaten one of his and he’s not going to be the guy to do it. He tells him to keep chasing after Mami and keep yeeting, because he’s gonna get one chance to walk away, drop out of the tournament, and keep chasing Dominik Mysterio’s sloppy seconds.

Because if he comes after Bron’s title, he’s going to lose. Uso laughs it off and thanks him for the advice and calls him a rookie. He’s gonna get Mami but now Breakker has his attention and he’s winning the tournament, the title, and beating his ass.

He leaves Bron fuming.

Braun Strowman makes his entrance to send us to break.

Braun Strowman vs. Ludwig Kaiser vs. Sheamus (WWE Intercontinental Championship #1 Contender’s Tournament First Round Match)

Action to the floor early, Strowman goes for the freight train and just runs through the timekeeper’s barricade to send us to break!

Back from commercial, Kaiser working Sheamus over, posting him for a dropkick, to the floor, around the ring... AN OFFICE CHAIR FLIES AT LUDWIG’S FACE AND KNOCKS HIM DOWN! BRAUN STROWMAN IS BACK ON HIS FEET! Throwing Sheamus back inside, Strowman runs him over with lariats, huge chokeslam... NOPE!

Celtic Warrior with the Beats of the Bodhran, blasting him off the apron with a knee, Kaiser Roll catches him... STILL NO! Ludwig follows it with an enzuigiri, off the ropes and Sheamus catches him with the Brogue Kick but Pete Dunne pulls him off of the cover and lays him out with the shillelagh!

Braun with a Stinger Splash on Kaiser...

Braun Strowman wins by pinfall with a running powerslam on Ludwig Kaiser.

Backstage, Damian Priest comes to Jey Uso and says he’s grateful for the assistance but they have a past to acknowledge. Uso says he’s been where he is, without friends, and he respects him.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Pete Dunne is interviewed.

He says he was just sending Sheamus a message from an old friend and he’s off to NXT to kick Trick Williams’ ass. The interview lady asks if she should tell Sheamus the message was from BUTCH and he turns around and tells her not to call him “the B-word.”

Commentary hypes up next week’s show.

Damian Priest and Jey Uso make their entrance to send us to break.

Damian Priest & “Main Event” Jey Uso vs. Judgment Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh)

Balor and Priest to start, Finn immediately tags out and Damian blasts McDonagh clean out of the ring with a kick! Bringing Balor back inside, he bails and JD returns with leg kicks! Whip blocked, reversed, huge uppercut! Uso tags in and Judgment Day immediately set to cutting the ring in half and working him over at length.

Back body drop, Damian holds the ropes open and Jey dives to send us to break!

Back from commercial, McDonagh working a Fujiwara armbar on Uso, Jey gets some breathing room with an enzuigiri, tags made! Priest lighting Balor up with punches, knees and kicks! Elbow takes him down, charging back elbows for both Judgment Day men, passing JD to the floor, Finn with a schoolboy for two!

Sling Blade connects, big boot from Damian in return! Fired up, lariat, calling for it, South of Heaven reversed into a victory roll pin for two! Elbow out of the ropes, McDonagh runs interference, inverted headlock elbow drop gets Finn a nearfall! Off the ropes, double lariat, blind tag, Jey off the top, double crossbody!

Superkicks, off the ropes, spear on McDonagh! Dragging him into position, up top, but Liv Morgan appears to run interference and Uso crashes to the mat! Balor tags in, Sling Blade, shotgun dropkick, up top, tag to JD, Coup de Grace connects, McDonagh with a moonsault... PRIEST BREAKS IT UP!

Rhea Ripley is here on a crutch and Liv Morgan laughs and mocks her! This turns out to be a mistake because Rhea doesn’t actually need the crutch and instead uses it as a weapon! Still hobbling as she chases after Liv, breaking the crutch over her back! Morgan flees through the crowd!

Jey tags out, Damian knocks JD to the floor, front kick on Finn, Razor’s Edge blocked by a returning McDonagh! Spear tags Balor out, Damian gets JD up for the Razor’s Edge! Uso wants the tag, Priest gives it to him, perching up top...

Damian Priest & Jey Uso win by pinfall with the diving splash from Uso on JD McDonagh.

That’s the show, folks.
