The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice on a planned temporary traffic disruption on Kipande Road from Friday, December 27, 2024, to Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

This announcement, made on December 27, aims to inform motorists and residents about the partial road closure, which will facilitate the installation of a cross culvert to enhance road connectivity.

Traffic will be diverted from Kipande Road to Ngara Road, with alternative routes provided via Embu-Nairobi Highway/Prof. Wangari Maathai Road, Limuru Road, and Kolobot Road.

KeNHA announces Temporary traffic disruption at Kipande Road

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Kipande Road will be partially closed on Single Bound at a time on diversion to Ngara Road. The closure will commence on Friday December 27, 2024, to Tuesday December 31, 2024.

All traffic will be diverted through Embu – Nairobi Highway/Prof. Wangari Maathai Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road and Kolobot Road as an alternative route during this period,” read the announcement.

According to the notice, this project is part of KeNHA’s ongoing efforts to ensure seamless road connections within Nairobi.

Engineer Kungu Ndung’u, the Director General of KeNHA, emphasized the importance of this infrastructural development to improving road safety and efficiency.

He urged motorists to exercise caution around the work zones, adhere to the proposed traffic management plan, and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals stationed at the site.

“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work zones, and to follow the proposed traffic management plan below as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” Ndung’u urged.

KeNHA announces temporary closure of a section of Nairobi Southern Bypass

The public notice includes a detailed map showing the diversion routes and the specific sections of Kipande Road that will be closed. Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.

This announcement follows a recent advisory from the authority regarding a temporary closure of a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass from Ole Sereni Interchange to Ngong Road Interchange (both carriageways) from Tuesday, December 24, 2024, to Sunday, January 5, 2025, at midnight.

According to KeNHA, this closure was necessary to allow for the rehabilitation of the expansion joints of all the bridges along the affected section, as well as the reconstruction of the concrete pavement at the Virtual Weighbridge.

During this period, KeNHA announced that traffic will be diverted to Mombasa Road (A8) Highway, Lang’ata Road, and Ngong Road as alternative routes.
